Yes, I have published two novels, Deviations and Creations. I am currently working on my third novel, The Great Divide.
There are two reasons I chose to self publish. The first is, I couldn't capture the attention of a literary agent. I got several, this is great, but not our fit, or, needs some work (which it did). So after working on it I decided why not publish it myself. Second, I liked the idea of having absolute control! I chose my cover and went through about three of them. I was able to pick and choose what parts of my story I wanted to cut or add. It has definitely been a really big learning curve, but I have enjoyed every single bit.
Maybe. I definitely haven't ruled it out.
Any online retailer! Search, Deviations (or Creations) by Crystal C. Johnson
Heck yes there will be! I have taken some time away from the Deviations Series to work on The Great Divide, but will be returning to wrap things up with Henly and Renner! They're definitely not done with me!
There are four books that I think should be apart of every writers arsenal of tricks. Bird by Bird, by Anne Lamott, Big Magic, by Elizabeth Gilbert, The Sublte Art of Not Giving a F*ck, by Mark Manson, and On Writing: A Memoir on the Craft , by Stephen King.
These novels are great and teach you the importance of tuning out the critics and listening to your inner voice, all the while helping you craft better stories.
I like to pretend I do. You can read some on my instagram pager @Crystal_Cervantes_
My taste varies from genre to genre. At the moment I am trying to switch up my reading pattern so I take turns reading a fiction book and a non-fiction book. Something that will help me learn more about my craft or teach me something I didn't know. The fiction is just for escape and adventure, so I always love returning to those!
Maybe! Fill out the contact form and tell me about what you have written. If I am interested in what you've written I will reach out! If not, I'll let you know why. I will be as honest as possible.
Would it be cheesy if I said everywhere? Probably. But I do. However, on the days that I feel the itch of writers anxiety pull at my collar I pull out my camera and shoot a video or take photos. It has been the best to be able to put my writing aside and shoot a wedding video or pack my bags to head out to capture something amazing. Being apart of the world and experiencing it helps to free my mind of the loneliness writers anxiety can make me feel. So leaving that head space behind for a couple of hours is nice.
I have been behind the lens for about three and a half years. During this time I have had the opportunity to shadow and learn through several skilled photographers and videographers. My ability to craft stories and expand plots has been a huge advantage for helping me create memorable moments.
So far I haven't encountered anything that I don't like to shoot. Every project / job I have taken on has been amazing!
Heck yes! Let me know the details of the shoot you have in mind (wedding / baby delivery / commercial) and I'll see if it works!
It depends on what you have in mind. In the contact from on The Business page fill out the details and I will be in touch. On booking your date I require a nonrefundable 25% deposit to hold the date for you.
I use the Canon 80D and the 24-70 mm lens. One of my favorite lenses to use is the 50. Can't really beat it!
*For 3 years I have used the Canon t5i rebel with my 50 mm and 24 mm lens. It's not always about the body, it's more so how you use it and the lens.*
I do! If you fill out the contact form letting me know you would like to purchase a print I will be in touch to discuss details!
